EVERETT – The City of Everett has launched two new walking tours aimed at providing historical insight on Everett’s development as a city. The tours, viewable on a mobile device, highlight many important locations in downtown Everett’s history, including National Register properties.
“These tours appeal to the vibrant stories of Everett’s historical points,” said Assistant Planner Kembra Landry. “The short tour is perfect for anyone who has about an hour to explore downtown and the long tour is ideal for those looking for a deeper dive into decades of Everett’s history.”
Creation of the tours was funded by a grant from Washington State’s Department of Archeology and Historic Preservation. Both tours can be found on the City’s website and offer detailed information about each property as well as an auto-locate feature to ensure easy navigation.
The tours can be accessed at www.everettwa.gov/walkingtours and a printed version of the short tour can be obtained at Everett City Hall (2930 Wetmore Ave.). For additional information about Everett’s history, contact the Northwest Room at Everett Public Library.
