[ARCHIVED] Early morning duplex fire on Locust Street

Locust Fire

EVERETT -     Four adults safely escaped a duplex fire just before 2 a.m. this morning.

Multiple callers reported a residential fire in the 800 block of Locust Street. Everett Fire units arrived to find one-half of a duplex fully involved. Firefighters immediately established an offensive operation and quickly prevented the fire from spreading into the second duplex.

All residents safely evacuated the home upon arrival of the fire department with no reported injuries. The American Red Cross responded to assist four displaced adult residents.

Marysville Fire Department assisted with mutual aid and Everett Police assisted with traffic control. Snohomish County PUD and Puget Sound Energy responded to secure the utilities to the residence.

Fire investigators are currently on scene investing the cause of the fire. Estimate of the damage is unknown at this time.

In general, as a long weekend approaches, this is a good reminder to check the smoke alarms in your home and practice your family fire escape plan, which should include two ways out of each room and an outside meeting place a safe distance from the home where everyone meets.
