Everett Transit’s 20-year Long Range Plan, adopted by the City Council in June, outlines the direction of future growth for the agency. During the plan development, the public feedback showed that the community favors a network focused on local, high-frequency service.
The financial analysis included in the Long Range Plan projected that significant growth will require additional revenue sources, and that Everett Transit will need to implement cost-saving and revenue-generating measures in order to operate at a sustainable level in the coming years. The plan refers to potential service adjustments as the implementation of a sustainable network. The 2019 service proposal streamlines routes and reduces service hours.
Everett Transit is also proposing a fare increase in order to cover rising operational costs in a sustainable way. The agency’s last fare increase was in 2013.
Presentations will take place in July and August to educate the public about the proposed changes.
Transit riders and community members are encouraged to provide feedback by Aug. 20.
