New fire chief to be sworn in May 30

EVERETT – New Everett Fire Chief Dave DeMarco will be officially sworn during the City Council meeting this Wednesday, May 30, at 6:30 p.m. Mayor Cassie Franklin recently announced the selection of DeMarco following a national search.

“This is an incredible department with a passionate team that protects and serves our city every day,” said DeMarco. “I am honored to step into this new role and support the team as well as our wonderful community.”

As chief, DeMarco will oversee the full range of services that the department provides, including firefighting, a robust emergency medical services division offering both Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Life Support (ALS) services and hospital transport, a hazardous materials team, technical rescue teams (marine, rope, trench and confined space), fire prevention & outreach, and emergency management. In 2017, the Everett Fire Department responded to nearly 24,000 calls for service.

DeMarco will officially begin his new position as chief on June 1. He will lead the department’s 175 full-time firefighters and 11 civilian employees.
