On the evening of June 17, 2015, the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office concluded its investigation of the deceased male involved in the shooting at 711 W. Casino Road. He was identified as 28 year-old Carlos H. Lara-Ramos of Everett, WA. The manner of death was determined to be Homicide.
Detectives working the case developed probable cause to arrest a 33 year-old suspect, Alexander Sandoval Ortiz, for 1st degree murder (RCW 9A.32.030) and 2nd degree unlawful possession of a firearm (RCW 9.41.040). He was apprehended, interviewed and booked into the Snohomish County Jail this evening.
Based on information discovered during the investigation, neither the suspect nor victim lived at the incident location. Both men had dated the same female and the suspect was upset his relationship ended. On June 15th, the suspect obtained a handgun. On the afternoon of the 16th, he found out the victim was in an apartment along Casino Road. The suspect waited outside to confront the victim and the two men argued. The argument turned physical during which the victim was shot once. The suspect fled the area on foot and the victim died on the way to the hospital.
Detectives recovered the handgun and impounded it as evidence.
There is no indication that this shooting is related to other incidents in the area and it does not appear to be gang related.
The suspect does not have a home address.

EVERETT – Detectives with the Major Crimes Unit are investigating a fatal shooting in Everett.
At about 4:00 p.m. this afternoon, officers were dispatched to the Arterra Apartments (711 W. Casino Rd) after 911 received a report that a man had been shot in the parking lot. Arriving officers found an adult with gunshot injuries and immediately began first aid. Witnesses told officers that the male suspected of doing the shooting had fled on foot. Officers contained the area while police K-9’s searched and the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office helicopter assisted. The suspect was not located.
The injured man was transported to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett where he died from injuries sustained in the shooting.
Detectives with the Major Crimes Unit responded and are investigating the incident. It is unknown if the two men knew each other or what started the incident.
