Everett, WA - Local law enforcement will spend one-on-one time with local children for a holiday shopping experience at Everett’s Target.
On December 13th, Everett Police and the Everett Target will be hosting the 3rd Annual Heroes & Helpers at the Everett Target. The event will sponsor over 103 Snohomish County children with a shopping trip to purchase gifts for the holidays. Snohomish County Sheriff’s Deputies and Washington State Patrol Troopers will also be helping with this year’s event.
“We are so excited for the Heroes and Helpers event. I am amazed at how much it’s grown at the Everett location in just three years. Our first year, we raised enough money to sponsor 54 children and last year this number grew to 77 children. The fact that we are able to sponsor over 103 children this year shows just how generous this community truly is,” said event organizer Det. Jamie French. “This unforgettable experience allows children to get make a positive connection with officers in their community. It’s a memorable night for everyone involved, not just the children, but the officers and volunteers as well. We are honored to be able to team up with Target to help host this event.”
The children get goody bags, photos with Santa, enjoy a pizza dinner and cookies, and then spend time shopping with a local police officer. Selected children have been referred to the program by area social service providers and range in age from one month to 17 years-old.
Heroes & Helpers, also known as Shop with a Cop in other communities, is sponsored by the Everett Police Officers Association and Everett Target. The event is funded by donations from police officers and their families, civilian employees, the community, and a grant from Everett Target.
