[ARCHIVED] Juvenile arrested in Everett homicide

EVERETT – A 13 year-old male has been arrested in the overnight shooting death of a juvenile.

Just after 5:00 p.m. last night, officers responded to the shooting of a 14 year-old male outside the breezeway of an apartment building at Walden Pond Apartments (9900 12th Ave W). The 14 year-old was transported to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett where he later died from his injuries.

During the course of the investigation, detectives spoke with witnesses and believed the 14 year-old male had an altercation with a 13 year-old male. About an hour after the altercation, the two ran into each other at Walden Pond Apartments where the 13 year-old fired one shot from a pistol.

Just before 10:00 p.m., a citizen called 911 to report seeing a male believed to be the shooter at a bus stop on W. Casino Road. The male was contacted and taken into custody by law enforcement without incident.

During the interview, the 13 year-old suspect admitted to shooting the victim and led detectives to where he hid the gun. The gun was recovered as evidence.

The shooting is believed to be gang related and the gun is believed to be borrowed from a 12 year-old.


Juvenile killed in Everett homicide

EVERETT – Detectives with the Major Crimes Unit are investigating a shooting that killed a juvenile male in Everett.

Just after 5:00 p.m. this evening, a resident at Walden Pond Apartments (9900 12th Ave W) called 911 to report hearing a shot.  Arriving officers located a juvenile male who had been shot outside the breezeway of an apartment building.

Aid was immediately rendered to the juvenile and he was transported to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett in serious condition. Shortly after arriving at the hospital, the juvenile died from his injuries.

Detectives with the Major Crimes Unit responded to the scene and are investigating to develop suspect information. At this time, no suspect has been identified.

The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office will determine cause and manner of death as well as establish identity.
