School to Prison Pipeline - Breaking the Cycle

Saturday, April 20, 2019

“Why should I be interested?” In 1950, less than 1% of Snohomish County was non-white; thirty years later, only 5.3% of the County’s population were people of color. However, from 1980 to 2018 that proportion increased five-fold and fully more than 29% of the current population are people of color. Conference participants will gain a better understanding of that growing diversity and have opportunities to learn skills they can use to work proactively to address related social justice issues in their own community. The conference theme for 2019 is” School to Prison Pipeline – Breaking the Cycle”. We will focus on areas of Health, Education, Culture, Employment, Housing and Restorative Justice. Keynote Speaker Robin DiAngelo, author of “White Fragility” and Featured speaker, Aneelah Afzali. Dr. Benjamin Danielson, Executive Director, of the Odessa Brown Children's Cinic will be conducting a workshop on Community Health for Children.
