Contested Hearing

If you want to contest or challenge an infraction, check the “Contested Hearing” box on the back or bottom of your ticket. You must do so within 30 days of the violation date. The court will schedule a hearing upon receipt of your request. You must appear for that hearing. Failure to appear will result in consequences.

The city must prove by a preponderance of the evidence that you committed the infraction. You can require (subpoena) witnesses, including the officer who wrote the ticket, to attend the hearing. If you lose at the hearing, the finding will be reported to the Department of Licensing.

Contact the court for more information.
