Fines are assessed on a property when the property remains in violation of City ordinances beyond the corrective action date listed in a Voluntary Compliance Agreement or Notice of Violation and Order or a Stop Work Order. Fines are assessed as $250 per day per violation on a property. A Notice of Assessment is sent to the property owner every two weeks until the property is brought into full compliance. Below are payment options offered by the city.
Payment can be made in full using a check, money order, cash, or the use of a credit card (note: a 2.3% merchant fee is applied to all credit card payments) to the City of Everett Treasurer's office.
A monthly payment plan can be arranged with a minimum $250 per month payment to the city. Please contact the Code Enforcement unit for information on setting up this option.
Submission of a Waiver Reduction Application for the fine imposed can be submitted to the Code Enforcement Supervisor for review and approval. This is only available when the property has been brought into full compliance within the time specified. Fine Reduction Form
When fines have accrued on a single property and the property remains in violation of city ordinances, the city may assess the accrued fines as a tax lien with the Snohomish County Treasurer's office.
