Riverfront

The Riverfront development is a reclamation and redevelopment project along the Snohomish River that is transforming an obsolete industrial area and landfill site into a riverside hub for recreation, housing, shops, and entertainment. 

The development is governed by a planned development overlay, development agreement, property disposition agreement, a consent decree with the Department of Ecology, and other agreements. 

Riverfront overviewThe development includes three main areas. The first phase of The Towns at Riverfront was completed in 2017 with 188 homes and a portion of the riverfront trail, phase two is next with 74 more homes. The Overlook at Riverfront was completed in 2019 with 235 homes and its part of the riverfront trail. Riverfront Everett will anchor the site with a mix of housing, entertainment, shopping and dining, and recreation opportunities along the Snohomish River. 2023 Development Agreement Amendment 

Shelter Holdings, the developer of Riverfront Everett, has applied to the city to revise the development agreement and planned development overlay to replace the cinema element with an anchor food & recreation use. The planning commission and city council have been briefed on the proposal and a public hearing is scheduled before the city council on December 20, 2023.
