Approximately 75% of all pollution in Puget Sound comes from everyday activities, such as washing and maintaining our cars, leaving pet waste on the ground, and using fertilizers and pesticides in our yards. When it rains, rain flows into our stormwater systems, on its way collecting oil, bacteria from pet waste, pesticides and other chemicals from surface streets and sidewalks. As a community, we can make a difference. The City offers several programs and resources to help reduce stormwater pollution and protect our creeks and streams, lakes and Puget Sound.
