The City is undertaking a periodic review of its Shoreline Master Program (SMP), as required by the Washington State Shoreline Management Act (SMA). The SMA requires each SMP be reviewed and revised, if needed, on an eight-year schedule established by the Legislature. The review ensures the SMP stays current with changes in laws and rules, remains consistent with other City of Everett plans and regulations, and is responsive to changed circumstances, new information, and improved data.
The Shoreline Advisory Committee is comprised of community representatives, stakeholders, interested citizens and agency representatives to oversee community outreach and involvement for the update of the City's Shoreline Master Program. The committee will help city staff host a community meeting in June to provide a forum for further public outreach, identify issues to address and present proposed revisions to the Shoreline Master Program and the Shoreline Public Access Plan.
